Overlap Capital is hiring a Funding Specialist to support our expansion in the Houston, Texas market. This is a commission-only role designed for professionals who already operate within a strong network of small businesses, founders, and startups.
Your existing relationships are not a bonus—they are the cornerstone of your success in this role.
Funding Specialists work with entrepreneurs using CapAdvise™, Overlap Capital’s capital readiness platform, to determine the most appropriate path to capital based on each business’s structure, timing, and use of funds. This role is about guidance, alignment, and execution—not pushing generic funding products.
Compensation
This is a commission-only position.
Earnings are directly tied to successful capital outcomes, including lending placements and capital advisory engagements. There is no salary, draw, or retainer. This role is best suited for self-directed professionals who are comfortable building and monetizing relationships through disciplined execution.
What You’ll Do
- Engage small business owners and startup founders from your existing network
- Guide clients through capital readiness assessments using CapAdvise™
- Help businesses understand realistic lending and investment options
- Coordinate capital submissions once readiness criteria are met
- Identify gaps in structure, documentation, or positioning and guide next steps
- Work closely with internal specialists to support accurate execution
- Maintain clear communication and professional standards throughout each engagement

Your ability to activate and support this network will directly determine your performance and earning potential.
Certification & Training
All Funding Specialists are required to become certified as Business Funding Strategists through Overlap Capital’s Business Funding Strategy Checklist certification program.
This certification ensures:
- Consistent advisory standards
- Alignment with Overlap Capital’s capital readiness framework
- A shared language for guiding clients responsibly
Certification is provided as part of onboarding and is mandatory for active participation.
