Overlap Capital is hiring a Full Stack Developer (MERN) to help build and expand the CapAdvise™ Intelligence API. This role is centered on backend architecture and API development, with front-end responsibilities where they directly support system usability and integration.
Your primary mission is simple and demanding: design, build, and scale the API that powers CapAdvise™—a capital readiness platform used to assess businesses, model funding paths, and support real-world capital decisions.
This is not a marketing site build. This is systems work.
Compensation
This is a commission-based role tied to platform success and contribution milestones.
Compensation is structured around delivered functionality, platform adoption, and long-term value creation. There is no salary or hourly structure. This role is best suited for developers who want ownership-level upside and are comfortable being rewarded for impact.
What You’ll Build
- Core REST APIs for the CapAdvise™ platform using Node.js and Express
- Data models and services in MongoDB designed for versioned business assessments
- Readiness scoring and recommendation logic endpoints
- Authentication, authorization, and role-based access controls
- Integrations that support lending partners, investment workflows, and internal tooling
- APIs designed for future AI-assisted decision models
- Secure, documented endpoints that can support white-labeled widgets and partner integrations
Technical Stack
- Backend: Node.js, Express
- Database: MongoDB
- Frontend: React (as needed for system-facing features)
- Infrastructure: Cloud-based deployment (AWS)
- API Design: REST-first, modular, versioned
What This Role Is Not
- Not a WordPress role
- Not a pixel-perfect UI position
- Not a short-term contract to “ship something fast and move on”
We are building infrastructure that must last.
Who You Are
You’re likely a strong fit if you:
- Have hands-on experience building production APIs with MERN
- Think in data models, workflows, and edge cases
- Care about code clarity, versioning, and long-term maintainability
- Are comfortable owning systems end to end
- Prefer solving real problems over chasing frameworks
Startup experience is helpful. Judgment is mandatory.
Certification & Domain Familiarity
All developers working on CapAdvise™ will be onboarded into Overlap Capital’s Business Funding Strategy Checklist certification program.
This ensures engineers understand:
- How capital readiness decisions are made
- Why data structures matter to real-world outcomes
- The context behind the APIs they are building
This is not about turning developers into financiers—it’s about building better systems.
Network & Collaboration
While this is a technical role, collaboration matters. You’ll work closely with:
- Capital advisors
- Business funding strategists
- Product and platform leadership
Understanding how users and partners interact with the platform is key to building effective APIs.
Who This Role Is For
- Developers who want to build a core platform, not just features
- Engineers interested in decision systems and applied intelligence
- Builders who think beyond MVPs and toward durable architecture
Who This Role Is Not For
- Developers looking for a salaried role
- Front-end-only specialists
- Candidates uninterested in long-term platform ownership
Why This Matters
CapAdvise™ is being built as long-term capital intelligence infrastructure. The API you build will shape how businesses access capital and how decisions are made for years to come.
If you are forward focused and want to help architect something that extends into 2026 and beyond, this role was designed with you in mind.
